“Keep Your Treasures Close to Your Heart…”
Bedazzling New Company Launches Collection
at the ENK Children’s Club Show, New York
Los Angeles, CA – March 3, 2004 – Booth #1536, Children’s
Club.
Audible oohs and ahhs can be heard at every presentation and sighting
of the charming and in-demand embellished tees, hooded towels, and girly
purses by Lettuce Truck Baby of Los Angeles, California. Whether being
unwrapped at a baby shower, seen on a munchkin running wild at the park,
or spotlighted at a debut, such as the Children’s Club exhibition
in New York, the “Pocket Treasures” collection by Lettuce
Truck Baby is wowing audiences nationwide.
Designer Taylor Harding is proudly showcasing her fall line in New York
for the first time ever. She has been creating must-have originals for
friends and celebrity children-- Tony Hawk and Kate Hudson -- along
with supplying local and numerous other west coast upscale boutiques
with her ravishing line that is being snatched up by Beverly Hills moms
and Hollywood stars.
Inspired by magic, love and innocence, Lettuce Truck Baby has crafted
the ultimate appliqué. “Pocket Treasures” are clear,
window-like sealed “pockets” that hold miniature replicas
of a variety of themes. Each hand-decorated design literally captures
youthful personalities, from ballerina to diva and cowboy to racecar
driver. Located on the chest of these wee tees gives reason for this
collection’s clever tagline:
“Keep your treasures close to your heart...”
Among these treasure troves one can find detailed charms such as tiaras,
ice cream cones, ballet slippers, mommy’s lipstick, cowboy boots,
baseball gloves and fire trucks. Adorned items include the finest quality
long sleeve and short sleeve tees, one piece bodysuits, newborn gowns,
plush hooded towels and adorable girly purses with shoulder straps.
Carefully mixed and hand-dyed colors for this fall are based on favorite
childhood flavors, such as pink bubblegum, caramel, butterscotch, blueberry
pie, raspberry fruit punch and plum. Sizes range from 0-24 months with
select pieces for toddlers to tweens in sizes 2T, 4T, 6, 8, 10, &
12. Lettuce Truck Baby suggested retail prices range from $23 to $54.00.

“Treasure Chest”
Taylor Harding's background is quintessential California. With a childhood spent in the sun and surf on idyllic Coronado Island, she was perfectly prepped to launch a line of whimsical, beach-inspired clothing for the kids in her own life.
She also had some previous exposure to the design process: "All
through [college] my roommates were designers," Harding said. Yet
she never thought she would some-day design clothes herself, until she
needed a baby present for one of her husband's friends, an avid skateboarder.
She created a one-piece cotton outfit and matching blanket in a leopard
print with a skater applique. Next thing Harding knew, pro skater Tony
Hawk wanted them for his three children. "I thought, I should just
do this [full-time],'" she said.
Harding started Lettuce Truck Baby one year ago, the name derived from
those of her two children, Kale and Ford. Much of the collection incorporates
what Harding calls the "ultimate appliqué"- the Pocket
Treasure. These clear, window-like pockets hold tiny items in a seemingly
endless array of themes: Western, animal safari, sports, ballet and
shopping are among the most popular. "Pocket Treasures are what
I would have wanted when I was a little kid," Harding said. She
chooses themes based on what her own kids would wear. Styles include
T-shirts with matching leggings, purses and hooded towels. A sub-collection
called Surf and Turf features an array of Pocket Treasures in beach/surf
themes, like sand and sharks, as well as funky T-shirts adorned with
surfboards, old-fashioned "woody" cars and faux-fur trim.
Lettuce Truck Baby ranges from newborn to 24 months, with select pieces
for sizes 2T, 4T and 6. To extend her size reach to tweens, Harding
is introducing Lettuce Truck Kids for Spring 2005, incorporating more
grown-up themes and styling, including "Diva" and "Sleepover
Party" Pocket Treasures.
